OPTOMAP

Bater & Stout Opticians offers the Optomap® as an important part of our eye exams.Optomap Ultra-widefield retinal imaging gives a photographic record of the eye's health, and is recommended due to its massive Retinal viewing area and it’s ability to detect much smaller amounts of change over time.

WHAT IS OPTOMAP?

At Bater and Stout Opticians we are pleased to be able to provide Optomap Ultra-Wide-field retinal imaging.  This highly advanced technology provides our Optometrists with a far wider field of view in a single image than can be achieved with a standard eye examination, allowing easier diagnosis and early warning of conditions at the centre and periphery of the eye’s back surface.

Unlike normal retinal photographs, the Optomap provides an ultra-wide retinal image displaying up to 80% of the retina compared to just 15% with more traditional techniques.  Utilising the scanner we are able to detect conditions like diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachments and numerous other retinal conditions.
